Let's try this again!

OK, it's time to dust off this blog and start again.  Halloween is almost here .  We are planning on having a party as Halloween falls on a Saturday this year.  Our Aunt Carol is setting up a graveyard in our front yard and we will have the inside decorated too.  There's going to be lots of food and fun!

We've found some good ideas for food and crafts at Family Fun.  We will all be in costume although they haven't all been decided yet - have to get going on that..  One of the best places I have found for costumes is thrift stores.  You can find some great things there to wear as is or to change to fit your needs.  Last year Tessa wanted to be a dead prom queen.  I found the perfect white party dress at the Salvation Army for $6.  We tore it up a little and tea dyed it and it looked wonderfully deadish.  LOL  The whole thing cost under $10, probably less as we also used the tea dye for my son's mummy costume.

We have also been "touring" the Halloween stores.  This was actually planned and put on the family calendar.  Yes, we are a weird family.

Busy weekend, exspensive too!

Let's see - we spent all day at my parents yesterday. While we were there, my mom told me that she had a credit for the local quilt shop and that I should use it for fabrics! DD11 came with me and decided she wanted to make an Amy Butler bag. So, between the two of us, we used up the credit and then spent another $18! Then, there is a Hostess outlet near there, so we stopped and got stuff for us and my parents which was another $25. So, the "free credit" that I was given cost me $43! We all had a lot of fun with Nana and Papa though so it was worth it.

Today, we went grocery shopping. There were lots of sales and I had coupons so we really stocked up. At least, I hope we stocked up! We spent roughly $250!!!! But, we should only need milk and maybe a few more fruits and veggies over the next two weeks.

The older kids start school this week so we also added lunch stuff as they will be taking their lunch sometimes.

I am hoping that I will have more time for sewing once they are back in school. DD4 will be in preschool 3 afternoons a week so even with one or two of times spent running errands, I should get one afternoon to myself. I hope. :)

I should have stayed in bed.

Well, it really hasn't been a good day. Band did not go well this morning. Despite the teacher telling us that DD11 is her best student, DD still was a nervous wreck and almost bolted from the room - so not like her! Then, she was so embarrassed, she wouldn't look at my in-laws. I think I am really not liking these tween girl years. :(

Next, I got a great offer ($100!!) for an item I had on ebay only to have the guy realize he made a mistake after showing the picture to someone. I guess he was looking for a different version of the Star Wars item. He was very nice though and it did seem to be an honest mistake. He also paid for my listing fees. I did have 6 watchers on the item and several other SW items runnig at the same time though and it was ending tomorrow. Now, I have to start it all over again.

DS13, who has been really agreeable all week, decided to pick today to mouth off. Umm, yeah, let's do this when mom is already having a bad day. Teenage boy years - fun. Not.

DD11 and DS13 are staying overnite at my SILs (unless DS opens his mouth again) and going to her office with her tomorrow. DD4 is, of course, so not thrilled with this situation. But, she gets extra attention from Mom and Dad so that should make it right.

And, to top it all off, I was on a very strong antibiotic last week for a sinus infection. So strong, it did a real number on my stomach. :( And, my ears hurt now. :( Sigh. Back to the doctor's, I guess.

Oh well, when it rains, it pours. Tomorrow will be better. : )

Time for bed.

It's late, almost 1am. I should be going to bed. Heck, I should be in bed. I have to be up early tomorrow, er, today to get ready to take DD11 to summer band. It is the last day today and the parents are supposed to watch. DD invited my in-laws which means we may go out to lunch afterward which means I have to make sure that DS13 gets up and gets DD4 ready while I am at band. Or, at least, finishes getting her ready.

Anyway, I decided to put a picture up on my blog instead. And, you may ask, why a pumpkin? It is after all, still August. Well, the subject of Halloween seems to be popping up a lot around here. My mom has asked me to find here a certain type of pumpkin decoration. And, I have recently bought the fabric and materials to make both girls Halloween outfits. So, I guess I am in a Halloween mood. I think I am wishing for cooler weather too. :)

Sooo, let's give this a try.

OK, I thought I would give blogging a try. I have been enjoying reading other blogs so I thought, why not?

Who am I? A stay at home mom, with a wonderful husband who is a fantastic father to our three fantastic (most of the time) children. Our son, is 13, older daughter is 11 and younger daughter is 4. We also have 2 dogs, a chocolate lab and a yellow lab, and 2 funky parakeets who are so much fun to watch.

We are currently getting ready for school (2 in Jr. High, 1 in preschool). Fall soccer starts next week. And, I am trying to empty out the basement. So I can empty the garage next. Ugh. It will be nice having the extra room. We are going to have a play/craft area down in the basement. My mom has a big table I can use for my sewing, which will be wonderful! No more sewing on the kitchen table! Last week, we donated 5 boxes of stuff. This week there will be another 5 and I have 3 boxes of things to sell on ebay . So, less stuff, more room and more money (hopefully).
